Bioflex Laser Therapy is an innovative new procedure that can be a treatment on its own or incorporated into a Massage Therapy, Physiotherapy or Manual Lymph Drainage Therapy treatment. It is a low-intensity laser that uses both red light and infrared light to promote faster and deeper cellular healing. The process is curative and therefore results in the elimination of symptoms, including pain. Laser Therapy is highly effective in the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions, sports injuries, arthritis, wound healing, and much more. It truly allows the body to facilitate natural healing with no adverse effects. Sunnybrae Therapeutics is one of the first massage therapy clinics in the city of Halifax to offer Bioflex Laser Therapy.
Bioflex Laser Therapy is very diverse, and can help treat a multitude of ailments, such as:
If you’re experiencing a problem and you’re interested in Bioflex Laser Therapy, please don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions.
The initial visit is very similar to our other therapy visits. Your therapist will review your health history, ask you questions and perform an assessment to determine what needs to be treated. You will then be instructed on how to get undressed and onto the table. Once your therapist returns to the room you will be be positioned according to comfort and a large pad (array) from which the red light and the infrared light is emitted will be placed over the area that needs to be treated. The array may be placed in a couple of different positions, usually usually lasting 10-14 minutes in each position. You should not feel any discomfort during this procedure.
Finally, we’ll place a laser probe directly onto the skin (it’s not painful — promise!) in several different spots for 5-8 seconds each, usually lasting for a total of 6 minutes. During this part, both you and the therapist are required to wear some (very fashionable) dark glasses to protect your eyes.
The laser treatment can then be followed by massage therapy, manual lymph drainage or physiotherapy depending on your needs.
Briefly, this patient of ours was suffering from a severe shoulder injury and was on a wait list for shoulder surgery. Using a combination of BioFlex laser and massage therapy we saw these improvements in just three weeks.
It doesn’t hurt! Bioflex is a low intensity laser – often called “cold” therapy because it will not heat the tissue being treated. The only thing you will feel is the weight of the array or the pressure of the probe — but while it’s on your skin it’s working it’s magic.
Sessions vary depending on the area being treated. Lower back treatment can last 60 minutes, while a sprained ankle is 30 minutes. Most treatments are between 30 – 60 minutes.
Bioflex Laser Therapy is one of the safest forms of pain treatment and management. There have been over 3,000 scientific studies on the Therapy, none of which have shown negative long or short term consequences.
